A medical resident at the Montreal Children’s Hospital was arrested Monday at his place of work after being suspected of being in illegal possession of the opioid fentanyl.

J. Kleiman, 28, appeared at the Montreal courthouse Tuesday and was charged with drug possession and theft of narcotics. He was released after agreeing to respect certain conditions.

Few details on the investigation or circumstances of the arrest were immediately available. The Montreal Children’s Hospital confirmed a medical resident was arrested, but said no further comment would be issued on the matter.
