A Hartsville woman is accused of stealing medicine from the nursing home in which she worked.

K. Winburn, 41, is charged with obtaining controlled substance by fraud, forgery and deceit and neglect of a vulnerable adult after she stole medications from two residents at Morning Side assisted living facility where Winburn worked, according to Lt. Mark Blair with Hartsville police.

Blair said Winburn told investigators she used some of the medicine while working.

According to the incident, Winburn “admitted to taking [four] of the pills while on duty and was clearly intoxicated as she was almost falling asleep, her head was nodding, and was clearly under the influence.”

Blair said as a result of Winburn’s arrest, it could impact her ability to work the future at an assisted living facility.

She’s been released from the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
