A former Enid Public School employee has been arrested after she was accused of stealing medicine from children at Garfield Elementary School.

T. Mongold left the district April 4, according to Enid Public Schools officials. Police said that days later and on several occasions Mongold used her employee key card, which was still valid, to get into the elementary school to steal medication.

“It’s sad that you’ve got to steal from kids,” said a mother who didn’t want to be identified.

The parent said her child was one of six who had much-needed medicine stolen from the nurse’s office at Garfield Elementary School.

“I think Enid Public Schools need to be held responsible,” she said.

District officials said Mongold worked at the elementary school as a family resource coordinator for eight months when she resigned.

“She shouldn’t have been able to get in the school,” the mother said.

Court documents state Mongold stole 107 pills used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The mother who spoke with KOCO 5 said replacing the medication from her own pocket has cost her hundreds of dollars.

“Having to pay for another medication would have been really hurtful,” she said.

Enid Public Schools officials said they can help parents pay for medication that isn’t covered by insurance as long as they provide a receipt.
