A 71-year-old former hospice worker in Chattanooga who was charged back in October with identity theft and possession of drugs for resale now faces new charges.

M. Grimsley is charged with theft and felony possession without prescription.

An affidavit obtained by NewsChannel 9 says the arrest happened last Thursday evening.

It says a woman called police saying Grimsley, her nurse, stole her prescription medication. The patient said she left her home for a doctor appointment, returned home about two hours later, and discovered her bottle of prescription oxycodone was gone.

The woman told investigators that Grimsley was the only person she believed was able to steal her pills.

When officers confronted Grimsley, she told them she didn’t know where the bottle was, according to the affidavit.

Police obtained a warrant to search Grimsley’s home.

After they began doing that, Grimsley asked them to stop, and then told officers the bottle was in the trunk of her vehicle, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit says Grimsley then told officers she lied about the pill bottle because she was concerned the patient would be abusing the medication, and that she did not want to confront the patient directly.

Back in October, officers arrested Grimsley after reports she was stealing the identities of patients, and hoarding some of the medications doctors prescribed to them. Grimsley’s daughter evicted her from her home, and our crew was there as people removed several bags, trash, and other items that had piled up inside her home.
