An Oshawa pharmacy employee is facing multiple charges after she allegedly stole $40,000 worth of prescription drugs, which had a street value of over $1 million.

Officers from the Durham Regional Police’s drug enforcement unit arrested Adriana Digiorgio, 35, last Friday.

The arrest came after the pharmacy noticed that $40,000 worth of prescription drugs had gone missing over a five-month period. Police also allege that they found oxycontin and dilaudid with a street value of $13,000 in Digiorgio’s possession.

She has been charged with two counts of theft over $5,000 and 10 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. She has been held for a bail hearing.

DRP is asking anyone with more info to contact Det. Const. Nicholas Baldini of the drug enforcement unit at 1-888-679-1520 ext. 2204.
