A registered nurse at Mary Black Memorial Hospital has been accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of morphine that was intended for a patient under her care.

Amanda Lynn Skoczlas, 32, of 121 Mallard Drive in Moore, is charged with violation of drug distribution law and theft of a controlled substance, according to arrest warrants from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control’s Bureau of Drug Control.

Warrants state that Skoczlas, while working as a nurse for Mary Black, unlawfully obtained the morphine without a doctor’s order. The morphine was found to have not been administered to any patient after it was removed from the hospital’s medication station, the warrants state.

Skoczlas was arrested Jan. 26 and taken to the Spartanburg County jail. She has since been released on a written promise to show up for court.
