A trial setting in the case of a Marshall woman charged with 134 counts of fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance was reset Monday, Feb. 27, after charges were amended by the Saline County Prosecutor’s Office.
Eleven additional felony counts were charged against Anne Marie Coke, 36, of Marshall. Each of the 11 new counts are for a class B felony — distribute controlled substance to a minor. According to the amended felony information from the prosecutor’s office, Coke allegedly distributed oxycodone to a person under the age of 17 on 11 occasions between April 2015 and January 2016. If convicted, the range of punishment Coke could face for each of the 11 new counts could be between five and 15 years with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Of the original 134 class D felony counts of fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance, allegedly resulting from the writing of fraudulent oxycodone prescriptions, Prosecutor Don Stouffer said three typos concerning the name of the party to which the prescription was allegedly written were amended. The original charges carry a maximum sentence per count, if convicted, of four years with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Coke waived a formal reading of the amended charges Monday and entered a plea of not guilty. Cause was continued for another trial setting scheduled for Monday, March 27, at 11 a.m.
