The Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD) said on March 4, S. Castellano, a pharmacy employee at CVS Pharmacy, was arrested for drug possession without a prescription, grand theft of a controlled substance, and fraud to obtain a controlled substance.

The arrest followed an internal investigation by CVS Corporate, which revealed that Castellano had been stealing and consuming medication while on the job, according to the arrest report. The investigation began when a CVS Corporate employee, reported missing narcotics tablets from the inventory.

Police said the CVS Divisional Diversion Manager conducted the investigation and provided security footage showing Castellano emptying bottles of drugs and consuming them. The footage and inventory discrepancies traced back at least two years, prompting CVS to press charges.

Upon arrival at the CVS location at 131 N Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach, officers spoke with the CVS employees, who provided sworn statements corroborating the theft. Castellano was read her Miranda rights and admitted to stealing and consuming drugs due to stress, according to the arrest report. A search of her property revealed six tablets of Tramadol Hydrochloride, an opioid, without a prescription.
