MINOT, N.D. – A former Minot nurse facing charges in a federal drug diversion investigation made her initial appearance in district court Monday.
Thirty-nine-year-old April Beckler faces felony charges of endangering a vulnerable adult, criminal conspiracy, and theft of property.
Investigators say the diversion occurred between December of 2012 and September of 2014 and involved nurses from Trinity’s Home Health and Hospice program.
Beckler will appear again in court Dec. 14 for her preliminary hearing and arraignment. The state asked for a longer hearing due to the amount of evidence in the case.
Judge Todd Cresap agreed to set Beckler’s bond at $5,000, allowing her to post 10 percent.
State prosecutors elected to drop a theft of property charge against Jennifer Napora, another former nurse implicated in the case.
Prosecutors dismissed the charge against Napora ‘without prejudice,’ meaning they could re-file the charge in the future but are not pursuing the case against her at this time.
Forty-five-year-old Kim Kochel, a third person charged in the case, is scheduled to make her initial appearance Tuesday on charges of endangering a vulnerable adult, criminal conspiracy, and theft of property.
