A Raeford woman faces a total of 97 charges after allegedly stealing prescription pads from her former employer and forging the signature of a doctor to get methadone and oxycodone, arrest warrants said.

Faith Welsh Patterson, 50, of the 100 block of Norris Court, is charged with 34 counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, 20 counts each of larceny by employee and uttering a forged instrument, 19 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, two counts of simple possession of a controlled substance and one count each of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud and one count of attempting to traffic in opium or heroin.

Between January and May, Patterson, who was working at Cape Fear Valley Ear, Nose and Throat on the 1500 block of Purdue Drive, is accused of stealing blank prescription sheets, forging the name of Dr. Sabrina Francis and presenting them to be filled at the Cape Fear Valley Pharmacy located at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on Owen Drive, warrants said.

Cape Fear Valley Ear, Nose and Throat is a part of Cape Fear Valley Health.

Bail was set at $444,500.
