A suspended Lincoln nurse was sentenced Tuesday to probation and a week of jail time for stealing fentanyl from the hospital where she worked.
Krista Morgan, 31, pleaded guilty to acquiring a controlled substance by fraud for taking several 2-milliliter bottles of fentanyl citrate from Bryan West Campus.
In a petition for disciplinary action against her license, the state said Morgan started taking fentanyl vials from the hospital in November 2017; and the week before she was suspended removed caps from fentanyl vials, took the fentanyl out, replaced it with saline and glued the caps back on.
Police said the missing bottles were discovered in January. An investigation determined the bottles went missing under Morgan’s supervision.
Morgan left her job with the hospital before her arrest. In April, her nursing license was suspended for a year.
Tuesday, Lancaster County District Judge Darla Ideus sentenced her to two years of probation, plus a week of jail starting Tuesday and 80 more days throughout probation, unless waived.
