P. Campbell, 41, is charged in U.S. District Court with acquiring a controlled substance by fraud.
According to Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services records detailing his license suspension, Campbell was previously employed as an advanced practice registered nurse at the North Platte Surgery Center.
DHHS says in April 2023, Campbell admitted to surgery center leadership that he had been taking Propofol and Fentanyl for his personal use. The center said an internal investigation determined numerous vials of these drugs were missing from its stock.
DHHS says Campbell was later terminated by the surgery center for theft of unauthorized drugs.
Campbell is set to appear in U.S. District Court at 1:30 p.m. May 20. If convicted, he faces up to four years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, a one-year term of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.
