Two men pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and opioid diversion, according to court documents.

According to attorney David Freed, 39-year-old Matthew Dows and 31-year-old Robert Garofalo obtained more than 7,470 oxycodone pills and 1,620 morphine pills.

Freed said the Mechanicsburg men were issued a total of 67 prescriptions between February 2017 and March 2018. They were also issued prescriptions using the names of two unidentified people without their knowledge or consent for personal use, according to Freed.

Court documents show Dows, a physician assistant at Pinnacle’s Health, was terminated in January 2018. However, after his termination, Freed states that Dow wrote 11 more prescriptions for oxycodone and morphine on counterfeit Pinnacle prescription forms.

Documents did not show where or if Garofalo was working as a registered nurse during the investigation.

Both men pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and one count of obtaining controlled substances by deception.
