A former Meijer employee pleaded guilty to a drug-possession charge in connection with stealing more than 2,000 prescription pills from the Warren’s store’s pharmacy.
Brahndi Miller, 26, of Detroit, entered the plea to a charge of possession of analogues Oct. 28 in front of Judge Diane Druzinski in Macomb County Circuit Court and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10.
Miller was originally charged with single counts of possession with intent to distribute Alprazolam and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, both punishable by up to four years in prison. She also faced one count of embezzlement between $200 and $1,000, a 1-year misdemeanor.
Alprazolam is a generic form of the narcotic Xanax, which is used to treat anxiety and depression. Xanax, aka “zannie,” is a highly addictive narcotic in the benzodiazepine group of drugs.
Miller worked as a pharmacy technician at the store at 10 Mile and Schoenherr roads. She was accused of swiping 2,200 pills in three incidents last May and June before she was arrested.
For her sentencing, Miller is seeking what is known as “7411” status in which the charge will be dismissed if she complies with probation conditions. She has already paid $512 in restitution.
