A Lake Havasu City drug store employee was arrested Oct. 19 after stealing nearly $2,000 worth of prescription medication.
Shantel A. L. MacDonald, 26, faces felony charges for theft and possession of narcotic drugs after police were tipped off by a loss prevention officer that MacDonald was swiping pills while working in the pharmacy.
When the loss prevention officer learned that MacDonald was suspected of stealing prescription medications as she was preparing customers’ orders, they installed a security camera and had the pharmacist begin monitoring missing prescriptions.
MacDonald later told police she took the medication all for her own use in order to manage pain caused by medical conditions she suffers from.
