A medical assistant at a Delray Beach medical office is accused of stealing several blank prescription pads from her work and trying to fill an order of 90 Percocets at a Publix Super Market last week, investigators said.

Michelle Bonito, 27, of Hypoluxo told police that she used her key to break into the office after hours and take the prescription pads this past month, according to a Boynton Beach police report. Bonito told officers that she wrote the Percocet prescription and past forgeries using her experience as a medical assistant at an unspecified Delray Beach medical facility, the report said.

She was attempting to fill the prescription for the painkillers at the Publix pharmacy at Gateway Boulevard and High Ridge Road when the pharmacist became suspicious of the pill request.

The pharmacist alerted Boynton Beach police who, after confronting Bonito in the store, received her confession, according to the report.

Bonito is facing a charge of violating the state’s Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act and was released from the following day from the county jail.
