A licensed pharmacy technician was arrested on the job Thursday afternoon in the metro Jackson area.
According to the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, 30-year-old J. L. Meredith of Florence faces a charge of obtaining the controlled substance phentermine 37.5 mg by embezzlement.
In conjunction with Meredith’s arrest, agents seized a handgun and a small quantity of phentermine 37.5 mg, which may be prescribed in the treatment of obesity, said MBN director John Dowdy.
Meredith’s arrest stems from a joint investigation of prescription drug diversion by the MBN with the assistance of the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy.
The suspect was transported to the Hinds County Detention Center and held pending a bond hearing.
