A woman accused of stealing narcotics from a locked medication box at a Midland assisted living community has been sentenced to terms including probation or a sentence delay.

Christie Jo Savage, 42, Freeland, was charged with larceny in a building and two counts of possession of analogues after an investigation into a discrepancy with a drug lock box at the Stratford Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 2121 Rockwell Drive, in January 2016.

Midland County Circuit Court Judge Stephen P. Carras sentenced Savage to terms including $1,450 in fines and costs, and either one year of probation or an open-ended delay of sentence. Restitution remains open.

An affidavit filed in the case states the company that supplies narcotics to the center discovered the discrepancy. The company supplies full boxes of narcotics along with an inventory sheet, and only authorized individuals can access the box to provide medications for patients.

The affidavit states employees of the center looked into the report, and found video footage of a person entering the room where the medication box is located. They also discovered a badge belonging to another employee was used to enter the room.

Stolen were four vials of morphine, four morphine tablets, one vial of Valium, 10 vials of Ativan and one bottle Ativan.

The two counts of possession of analogues list morphine and Valium.

Larceny in a building is punishable by up to four years in prison, and possession of analogues is punishable by up to two years in prison.
