A northern Michigan nurse charged with forging prescriptions has taken a plea deal.
On Monday, Kellie Herringa pleaded guilty to one count of drugs/obtain by fraud.
According to investigators, Herringa forged a doctor’s signature on three prescriptions she filled at Oleson’s Pharmacy.
The investigation started after a pharmacist noticed the handwriting on the third prescription looked suspicious and checked with the doctor.
Records show that with the plea deal, two additional charges of drugs/obtain by fraud will be dismissed at sentencing.
Herringa is scheduled to be sentenced through the drug court on April 15.
