HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)  The State Attorney General’s office has filed charges against Chambre J. Frazier, 27, of Nanticoke.

Attorney General Bruce R. Beemer said the charges filed  Frazier, are the result of a joint investigation by the Attorney General’s Insurance Fraud Section and Bureau of Narcotics Investigation.

Investigators with the Attorney General’s office have obtained an arrest warrant for Frazier, who is considered a fugitive.

According to a criminal complaint filed in support of the charges, Frazier previously worked as a customer service representative for Highmark Insurance. It is alleged that she used her position to illegally access patient information.

According to investigators, she then used this information to fill approximately 16 fraudulent prescriptions for various drugs, including Promethazine, Xanax and Alprazolam.

This alleged conduct involved Frazier calling pharmacies and using the names of other individuals and their doctors to obtain the fraudulent prescriptions.

The prescriptions were then  submitted for payment to Highmark Insurance, despite the fact that Frazier knew them to be fraudulent, investigators alleged in a criminal complaint.

The Wilkes-Barre Police Department arrested Frazier on Aug. 1 in connection with an alleged incident where she was found with fraudulent prescriptions. The charges filed in connection with that arrest are pending.

Attorney General Beemer thanked the Wilkes-Barre Police Department for its assistance with this investigation.

According to the AG’s Office, Frazier is charged with 17 counts of acquisition or obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge. She is also charged with 33 counts of identity theft,16 counts of insurance fraud and 10 counts of criminal use of a communication facility.
