A Monroe woman is facing 24 counts of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by fraud.

According to an arrest report, agents with the Metro Narcotics Unit were dispatched to the Walgreens on Cypress Street to investigate Jacqueline Lusk, 43, Rimes Circle on the charges.

A warrant states that an agent visited the store on Aug. 25 and spoke to the pharmacy staff. The staff advised that Lusk delivered a prescription for 60 Percocet.

The doctor’s office that was listed on the prescription said no record of it existed. An employee said Lusk did not have any authorized prescriptions. Lusk had worked at the office previously as a licensed practical nurse from March to August of 2017 and was let go for an unrelated reason.

A subsequent investigation revealed Lusk had used the Drug Enforcement Agency number from the doctor’s office to obtain multiple prescriptions in both her name and her daughter’s name. The prescriptions were filled at a minimum of seven different pharmacies.

None of the prescriptions were legitimate and, per the warrant, the doctor’s office indicated Lusk must have been stealing prescriptions during her time at work.

Search warrants filed in connection with the case yielded 24 original prescriptions for Lusk and her daughter, 12 for Percocet, 10 for Norco and 2 for Tramadol.

Bond was set at $1,000 per count, or $24,000 total. The suspect has bonded out.
