A registered nurse is accused of stealing narcotics from Greenville Memorial Hospital for personal use over the course of a month, according to arrest warrants.
On Thursday, agents with the state Department of Health and Environmental Control arrested 32-year-old E. Loeb, of Greenville, and charged her with two counts of theft of a controlled substance, first offense.
Loeb is the second Greenville nurse accused this week of stealing narcotics after E. Beacham, a former nurse with Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, was charged Wednesday with four counts of theft of a controlled substance.
According to the warrants, Loeb stole hydrocodone from the hospital between April 3 and May 11 for personal use.
Hydrocodone is a Schedule II opioid pain killer, according to the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
Loeb is still employed by Greenville Memorial, but is currently on a leave of absence, according to hospital spokeswoman Sandy Dees.
The state Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation lists Loeb as a licensed registered nurse.
A comparison of court records and the SCLLR nursing license database found at least five other nurses, including Beacham, in Greenville County have been charged with theft of a controlled substance since the beginning of 2019.
Under state law, first offense theft of a controlled substance is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a maximum fine of $5,000.
