A registered nurse employed by Massena Memorial Hospital stole prescription opioid painkillers from the hospital for her own personal use, according to state police.
H. E. Lapage, 51, of Raymondville, withdrew hydrocodone and oxycodone pills from the hospital’s automatic dispensing system several times between Jan. 1 and Feb. 13, police said
She withdrew the medication under the name of a patient for whom the drugs had not been ordered by a doctor, said Trooper Jennifer V. Fleishman.
Lapage was arrested and charged with computer trespass, falsifying business records first degree, fraud and deceit related to controlled substances and a violation of prohibited acts under public health law. Lapage was released and is scheduled to appear in Massena Village Court on March 13.
The New York State Department of Health Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement initiated the investigation.
