The Ocoee Police Department arrested two individuals and discovered six prescription pads totaling 111 blank prescription forms in a home Wednesday.

The discovery was the result of an investigation Ocoee PD launched after a local pharmacy notified police they’d been given a fraudulent prescription on Feb. 1, said Ocoee Police Sgt. Mark Olson.

The investigation, headed by Ocoee Police Detective Andrew Motes, began Feb. 2 and led to the arrests of Jessica Whitfill and Sommer Shope on Wednesday, Feb. 15, around 9: 30 a.m. in a house located at 325 Trancas Court.

Jessica Whitfill was charged with fraudulent attempt to obtain drugs and fraudulent use of personal identification, while Sommer Shope was charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, according to a press release.

The department is currently browsing through the pills and identifying them, but Olson suspects the majority will be Xanax, as it tends to be one of the more commonly abused narcotics.

“The biggest thing with prescription fraud is, you know, they steal some pads from a doctor’s office,” Olson said. “… So we want to let the pharmacies know there are people out there using these and hopefully behoove the pharmacists to look a little deeper if they see someone who comes in there every month asking for an unusual amount of Xanax or Adderall or anything like that.”
