A Chester County nurse has been arrested following a nationwide bust of health care professionals who illegally prescribed opioids to tens of thousands of victims.
T. Brown, 34, of Coatesville faces charges of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
Brown filled numerous fraudulent prescriptions in her name and in the names of others a local pharmacy, according to the US Attorney’s Office. She used the prescriptions to obtain oxycodone, both for herself and to sell to others, officials said.
Brown was able to fill the prescriptions by stealing prescription pads and paper from her employers, according to officials.
Brown is one of more than 50 medical professionals charged in connection with the federally-helmed Appalachian Regional Prescription Opioid Surge Takedown. Suspects charged in the bust sold more than 30 million illegal prescriptions for opioids for nearly 30,000 patients, officials said.
A preliminary hearing in Brown’s case is forthcoming.
