A former home health nurse will appear in Wise County court next month after she was charged with stealing a patient’s medication from their home.

Susan Rae Wagner, 31, of Clintwood is charged with three counts of prescription fraud, two counts of abuse and neglect of an incapacitated adult and one count of breaking and entering and eluding, according to court documents obtained by News 5.

Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Slemp said Friday the case is part of a Virginia State Police investigation and several victims were involved.

A criminal complaint said Wagner was caught on video stealing medication from a patient in St. Paul last month. The report also said that Wagner had been fired by her home health employer an hour before she arrived at the patient’s home.

Wagner will be arraigned in General District Court in Wise on Feb. 5.
