Drug Diversion in news from Google News

BRADFORD – Police said a woman who was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for traveling at 90 mph was a nurse who had stolen narcotics from a Hartford, Connecticut, hospital.

Amanda Claffey and Ryan Reed, both 27 and both from Newington, Connecticut, were cited to appear in Orange County criminal court on March 28.

According to a press release from the Vermont State Police, a car, which Reed was driving, was stopped on Interstate 91 in Bradford on Friday around 2 p.m because Reed was driving 90 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Troopers observed indicators of criminal activity and were granted consent to search the vehicle, the release said.

Troopers located several types of illegal narcotic drugs, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

The release said troopers believed the narcotics had been stolen by Clafffey from Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, where she is a registered nurse.

Both Reed and Claffey were arrested for possession of narcotics and stolen property.
