A nurse at the Pine Ridge hospital will spend a year on probation after admitting to stealing morphine and fentanyl from the facility.

The Rapid City Journal reports that Robert Wetenkamp was recently sentenced after pleading guilty earlier to acquiring drugs by fraud. As part of his plea deal, prosecutors dropped charges of health care fraud and making a false statement.

Wetenkamp was a registered nurse at AB Staffing Solutions, which contracts with the Indian Health Service. Authorities say he stole drugs for his own use in early 2017.

Wetenkamp had his Ohio nursing license suspended in 2005 for alleged drug-related incidents in that state.
