An O’Fallon woman has been charged with felony drug theft after she admitted to stealing a total of 420 hydrocodone pills from a nursing home patient in her care.
According to a probable cause statement, an administrator at Troy Manor reported the schedule II narcotics missing to police on April 14.
The administrator also discovered missing medication logs for a patient being cared for by Debra Lynn Nelson, 55, of the 7900 block of Holly Oak Court.
Records showed Nelson had signed for 14 cards of hydrocodone, each containing 30 pills, but all logs about the dispensing of the medications were missing.
Nelson was required to take a drug test, in which she tested positive for hydrocodone, hydromorphine and opiates.
On May 15, a sheriff’s deputy confronted Nelson about the missing pills, and she admitted that she had taken them.
