Greenville County deputies said they arrested and charged Dawn Alexander Mcgill, 37, with theft of a controlled substance and forgery.
Deputies said they received a report from the principal at Northwood Middle School in regard to stolen medication.
They said an investigation revealed Mcgill had stolen the controlled-substance medication belonging to one of the students and forged a logging document while doing so.
Mcgill was arrested and taken to the Greenville County Detention Center, where she is awaiting a bond hearing.
Elizabeth Brotherton of Greenville County Schools confirmed Mcgill resigned from her position on Friday.
