MANKATO — A New Ulm woman is accused of stealing painkillers from a Mankato assisted living facility at which she worked.
Sharon Kay Byro, 56, was charged with felony burglary and felony theft Thursday in Blue Earth County District Court.
Staff at an assisted living facility installed a surveillance camera in June after hydrocodone and fentanyl were missing from a medicine cabinet, according to the criminal complaint. An unidentifiable woman was caught on camera twice taking medications.
After the camera was repositioned and the painkillers were moved to a new location, a woman who two co-workers identified as Byro allegedly was recorded attempting to take medication. The camera also recorded an unidentified male accomplice acted as a lookout. The man returned an hour later and attempted to break into the cabinet.
