My first thought was good for that patient. There is an article about a LPN in a nursing home that has been charged with stealing medication from the nursing home residents. What is so great about this story is how she got caught.
While stealing medication from one resident, she started stealing from another. This second resident confronted her in front of another coworker. It was this confrontation that kicked off the investigation.
Since this took place, she has been charged with felony counts and could face up to 15 years in jail.
The question is how far back has this been going on, and how many other unknown patients has she been stealing from? One can only hope that there were no others that she was stealing from that couldn’t speak up for themselves.
Nursing facilities need to get better control over their medications, as this was the second story in as many days about a nurse stealing medication from nursing home residents.
