SARANAC LAKE — A drug store employee was arrested at his workplace Wednesday afternoon for allegedly stealing three different kinds of prescription medication.

Brad Wilcox, 55, of Saranac Lake, was arrested at his workplace, Kinney Drugs at 277 Broadway, on three felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, plus a misdemeanor count of petit larceny, at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday.

Saranac Lake police said Wilcox stole pill and strip forms of Suboxone, a drug commonly used to treat opioid addiction, as well as the seizure treatment clonazepam and alprazolam, known under the brand name Xanax. Police added that they are still investigating whether Wilcox stole from his employer or if the employer was affected by the alleged charges.

Wilcox was arraigned in Harrietstown town court and sent to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
